The Festival Players will bring their version of The Taming of the Shrew to Lampeter House in Pembrokeshire this summer.
PEMBROKESHIRE, WALES, July 31, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- People visiting Pembrokeshire next month may have the opportunity to enjoy an open-air performance of a classic Shakespeare comedy.
On Thursday August 18th, a new production of The Taming of the Shrew will be staged in the grounds of Lampeter House near Narberth.
With tickets priced at just GBP12 for adults and GBP10 for concessions, the event could appeal to keen theatre-goers staying in Tenby or other resorts in the area.
Famous as the inspiration for both the Hollywood teen film 10 Things I Hate About You and Cole Porter's musical Kiss Me Kate, the play combines elements of farce and gender politics with a passionate love story.
It will be performed at Lampeter House by the Festival Players, a Gloucestershire-based theatre company currently touring the UK with its interpretation of the work.
The show is scheduled to take place outdoors, although it will be moved inside in the event of bad weather. The grounds will be open from 18:00 BST, with the performance due to begin at 19:30.
Lampeter House boasts a natural amphitheatre in its grounds, making it a popular venue for theatrical and operatic events.
