The installation runs until May 16th at the Hong Kong Museum of History.
HONG KONG, April 28, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Centenary of China's 1911 Revolution exhibition comes to a close at Hong Kong's Museum of History midway through next month.
More than 150 pieces from the Hubei Provincial Museum are on display, along with pictures taken at the time, videos and maps that illustrate the milestone in China's political landscape.
When imperial rule came to an end, China became Asia's first republic.
Although radical undertones existed throughout the first decade of the 20th century, the revolution kicked off shortly after the implementation of two unpopular pieces of legislation by the Qing government.
One created a new imperial parliament, while the second led to the railways being nationalised.
The Wuchang Uprising of October 10th caused a chain reaction and 14 of the 18 provinces within China's main borders had declared independence within less than two months.
This exhibition offers visitors the chance to learn more about the events and the important role Hong Kong played in the revolution.
It opened at the start of March 2011 and is set to run until May 16th.
Admission costs just HK$10 (78p) for adults and HK$5 for concessions.
