Taking place on Saturday March 27th, the Pyrmont Ultimo UPTown Festival will feature an exciting blend of live music, dance performances, food stalls and family entertainment.

Quarry Green in Ultimo provides the venue for this free event, which will run from 11:00 to 16:30 local time.

People staying in Sydney hotels can expect to find two stages of live entertainment, as well as delicious cuisine from around the world and children's attractions such as a pony rides and a trampoline bungee.

Now in its 29th year, the festival is organised by the UnitingCare Harris Community Centre, with help from sponsors such as the City of Sydney, the City News, Star City Casino and the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre.

"Come out with the local community for the ultimate Ultimo and peerless Pyrmont event of the year," the event's website states.

Located south of Sydney's central business district, the Pyrmont-Ultimo peninsula was once an important part of the city's industrial waterfront.

After a period of decline, the district began to grow in popularity as a residential area and it is now a thriving suburb, with attraction such as the Powerhouse Museum and the University of Technology.
